Peter Matthews is our Director of Operations and has also been the Vineyard Manager at the Blenheim Farm Vineyard since it was established in 1999. Earning a M.S. in Geography from Virginia Tech in 1996, Peter has since pursued an education in vineyard and wine-related matters through the University of California extension agency, PVCC, and hands-on viticulture and winemaking experience at Blenheim.

It is a fact that great wine is made in the vineyard and Peter's vigilance in our vineyard is much admired at Blenheim. He is committed to producing excellent fruit and has dedicated himself to maintaining the health and quality of the vines to the highest standard. As a result, the Blenheim Farm vineyard is producing wines of a distinctively pure and intense character.

Born in the Netherlands, Kirsty has spent a majority of her life in Charlottesville. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1998 with a degree in biology, Kirsty developed an appreciation for wine through a job that allowed her to apprentice for famed Virginia winemaker Gabriele Rausse.

After making wine for several years in Virginia, Kirsty moved west to pursue formal training at the University of California at Davis, where she graduated with an M.S. in Viticulture and Enology in 2007.

Wishing to further refine her winemaking skills and experience a wine culture deeply rooted in tradition and quality, Kirsty recently completed a harvest for Domaine Faiveley in Nuits St. Georges, France as a recipient of the 2007 Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Scholarship.

Before her first harvest at Blenheim, Kirsty will be working as an assistant winemaker in New Zealand, as recipient of the 2007 Douglas Wisor Memorial Scholarship where she will focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon blanc production. Kirsty is dedicated to achieving the highest standards in winemaking while producing wines that best reflect the unique character of Virginia's soil and climate.
